Unnecessary technology
The one piece of technology that I could live without is a landline telephone (house phone). It seems like almost everyone has a cell phone in today’s society. The only phone call I receive on my landline phone is primarily from telemarketers. All of my family and friends have my cell phone number, so they usually contact me that way. Some of my friends don’t even have landline phones anymore because they have everyone contact them on their cell phone. Usually when I make online purchases, they usually ask that I put down a contact number. This is one of the very few times that I give out my landline number. Whenever I really do not want someone to contact me, I give them my landline number. Whenever I am at home alone, I never answer the landline telephone. The only way that I would be tempted to answer the landline telephone is if someone was to leave a message and I knew who they were. My parents hardly ever answer the landline telephone either. Whenever I am calling my parents at home on the landline telephone, they usually never answer until I say something on the answering machine. Since almost everyone carries a cell phone in today’s society, it seems as though the easiest way to get in touch with someone would be by their cell phone. There is really no reason to have a landline phone because people that are trying to contact you can never really guarantee that you will be at home when they try to call. In my opinion, cell phones are a lot more useful than landline phones so a landline phone is one piece of technology that I could live without.
